Little Chomper, what's the rush?

Our little Lucas has cut his first tooth! We think it is really cute - it just barely pokes out of his pink gums, like a little white pearl, gleaming, ready to chomp. As a matter of fact, to mark the occasion, it's got a name: Little Chomper. I did my best to actually capture the tooth in a photo but that proved impossible. Instead I've illustrated the location of Little Chomper - it's his lower left front tooth. Check it out...

So what's come with this latest development, other than our own Hetch Hetchy sized supply of drool? What's come is sadness that time is flying by and that Little Chomper is already here! Sadness may not be the right word, but we are shocked at how quickly Lucas, who once fit snugly in one arm, is already teething. Our little baby boy, the baby boy who could get lost in the seemingly cavernous crib, the baby boy who would sleep soundly on my chest, stretching no farther than my belly button to my chin, the baby boy who would grasp our fingers and squeeze them tight, he's growing, fast. Again I am reminded that time waits for no man, that events, no matter how monumental, no matter how clear it seems that the entire world should just stop and marvel at them, they just slip into yesterday. Lucas is our little angel. He makes us laugh a hundred times a day. His life is a gift. Little Chomper is just another flashing signal on the road, reminding us to savor every miraculous moment.

Oh, and this? This is just really funny:
