Lucas Stats 15 months

Here's his stats from his 15 month appointment.
Height: 31 inches
Weight: 24 lbs 4 oz

He's still a solid little guy, but his weight gain is slowing down. I'm missing his super chubby legs when he was a baby, and now that he's confident with his walking and running, his legs are getting slimmer. He's burning those calories now! All he wants to do is run around (in circles), climb and walk stairs. He likes helping me around the house, like opening and closing cupboards and doors, turning off the lights, moving his highchair to the wall when finished eating, and wiping the floor when something has spilled. He can understand alot but not so much speaking. He knows his where his toes, mouth and nose are. Loves looking at books, riding in his blue car, splashing in puddles and now sand. Lately he likes saying "oh Wow!".

Silly with Poh Poh

Here's Lucas being his silly little self with Poh Poh. We were eating at a Thai restaurant for my birthday lunch and he had so much fun playing with this cup of water. Fascinating to him.

Winter Olympics 2010

The Winter Olympics in Vancouver were so much fun. I've never seen the city so alive before, with so many Canadians so patriotic and elated with Olympic Spirit. We saw lots of Americans too, who were proudly wearing their US gear (Todd included). I felt like a tourist in my own hometown and even rode the public transit and the new Canada line which takes you from the airport to downtown. It's really convenient. The events I got to check out were Women's Figure Skating Short Skate and the Nordic Track Combined in Whistler. Boy was it really cold in Whistler and I wasn't expecting the bus to literally drop us off on the mountain for us to hike 1 km to the ski jumping site and the fact that there were NO indoor areas so it was soooo cold. I've become to used to California weather. Really, the biggest event was Olympic Hockey. Todd and I went to Yaletown and hung out at a bar to watch a US game and people were already saving tables 7 hours ahead for the evening Canada game. Crazy..Well yay for Canada for winning the Hockey Gold! It was ghost town when that game was on.

Valentines Day

Since having Lucas, Valentines day is a little different now. There's a third member of the family now and he's not always interested in sitting in a quiet fancy restaurant and eating delish food. He would rather eat mac and cheese, crawl around and bang on things. So this year we spent a nice V-day in Half Moon Bay. We took Lucas to Lemos Farms, where he got to pet his first goat. They have a little petting zoo there with goats mainly. Mama and baby ones too. I couldn't resist holding one of the babies..they were so cute. Lucas got a kick out of petting them. They were licking his hands and he was a little apprehensive about that. After we got some fish and chips from Flying Fish Grill. Who doesn't like fried food? All in all, it was a fun day.

Goong Hay Fat Choy

We celebrated Chinese New Years by going to Chinatown and checking out the flower market street fair. It was a zoo down there, with people moving in and out of stalls looking at the flowers and treats for sale. You think there was a big sale or something. We got a bite to eat at R&G Lounge - an Anthony Bordain pick. Food was tasty, but a bit on the expensive side for chinese food. I picked up some chinese rice crispies and an outfit for Lucas. After the perusing, we got a bbq pork bun for a snack.

We also had a 10 course chinese dinner at Hong Kong Flower Lounge with our friends to ring in the new year. Gertrude was in the bay area for work all the way from Spain, so it was nice to see her..along with Agnes who flew in from LA. Lucas knows how the do "cheers", he lifts his sippy cup up and bumps peoples glasses. It's so funny, and he got Uncle Kelvin a little drunk from cheering him every minute.

The mom in me made treats for everyone - vday and chinese new year.

Uh-Oh, Spaghetti-O

oh the joy... do you remember when being clean didn't mean anything to you? can you imagine the joy of spaghetti sauce in your eyes, nose, and hair? even your ears?!? i fondly recall the creepy halloween game of putting your hand into some dark, slimy container of something and trying to guess what it was. were they crushed grapes? spaghetti sauce? eyeballs?

well i think the true magic of children is their ability to see all of the magic and wonder in the world; to fling food in all directions, reveling in the squishy mess with out any filter or barrier between them and the shear pleasure of discovery of yet another new texture dripping down their cheeks, tickling as they go. makes you wonder, would that piece of salmon feel funny on your forehead? why not find out?

Ready? 1, 2, 3... Walk!

So a few nights ago Lucas took his first steps! Mom was out so I got to be the lucky first witness. He had been doing standing games with us holding him up, letting him go, and him teetering for a second or two. Much to my surprise I caught him standing up and then sitting back down on his own. I grabbed the camera to at least catch the standing on video, turned it on and caught the following footage of his first five steps!
