Little Lucas having a laugh at his silly parents. This was so fun to watch - we've heard him laugh, and he's usually a pretty happy kid, but this was a whole new level. We hope this puts a smile on your face!

First Carousel Ride
We took Lucas on his first Carousel ride at the Zeum Carousel in Yerba Buena Gardens in downtown San Francisco. It was such an old one built in 1906, and had all these hand carved horses, giraffes and camels. Lucas was not into the ride - it could have been all those scary animal faces and the mirrors and the circling. The entire time he had a worried look on his face that we had to move him off the horse and into a stationary sleigh. Maybe next year he might enjoy this. We did discover Yerba Beuna Gardens and the amazing playground. I think all the kids in SF were there that day (there are hardly any kids in SF). Lucas liked exploring and walking about with the help of Dad.

Happy New Year!

Well we flew back home on new years eve at 6am! With the new airport security we had to be there early at 4am - much too early. I can't believe they patted down Lucas (which he didn't really like) and we were not allowed to bring our laptop bag. They did allow us to bring his diaper bag but was asked a gazzillion times about it. We had a low key new years since I got sick at the end of the Vancouver trip. I think I've been in California too long and now I am too spoiled with weather were I think Vancouver is the North Pole, yet it's one of the mildest climates in Canada. We were supposed to go the Cheryl and Gunnar's house party but we didn't make it. Heck, we barely made it awake till midnight. We wish everyone a happy and wonderful 2010!!
Christmas - Surprises and Fun
This year we were lucky enough to celebrate with both sides of our family for Christmas. Jennifer, Todd's cousin hosted dinner a couple days before Christmas. The Brinks, Parkers, Berliners and Beveridges were all there. Lucas had a great time playing with all his cousins. The girls of the family looked after him, and treated him like a doll. They put him in this doll sleigh, which he fit, and pushed him around in it. He loved it. He tried to play Mario kart on the wii, and it was so cute to see Max and Carter try to teach him. It was super loud, so he did get overwhelmed a few times with 6 kids yelling and just being kids, but all and all he did great. I even scored a pair of Prada boots while I was there courtesy of Jennifer which she didn't fit. Score!
On Christmas Eve, we had a hot pot party at our place. Hedda, Leonard, Kelvin, Leslie, Sheila and a couple of Leslie's friends came over. Everyone chipped in in getting all the food ready and clean up. I basically didn't have to do much - i love our friends :-) Since Leslie won the Star Trek blu-ray dvd in our White Elephant at H&L's house, we watched it together. Check out the lights at our house. Our neighbor decorated our place really nice.

On Christmas day we flew into Vancouver and surprised my parents. They had no idea we were coming as the month before they were in SF celebrating Lucas' birthday. Our friends, Jen & Jul, picked us up from the airport and we went over to my brother's house. Marianne, my brother's wife, snuck us in the house and I went into the kitchen and saw my mom cooking breakfast. I casually, said "Hi mom" like I usually did and she said hi back and did a double take. Then she screamed when she saw Lucas. Then my dad saw us and got really excited. He thought he was dreaming when he saw Lucas. They both loved their christmas gift, the family together for christmas dinner. Another reason we came down was to throw my mom a 60th birthday party - surprise of course. We made it special with favours, balloons, and even a slide show for her. She was overwhelmed with surprises. It was really great to see her happy because she is always doing things for everyone and is so generous.
The annual xmas picture with the twins. We've been doing this for 20 or so years. Lucas decided to go to sleep.
Christmas day we arrived and Lucas was really into opening gifts that afternoon.
We got to see the "gang" too while we were back and had dim sum at Kirin. It was nice to see my friends from highschool, half of us there were home for christmas. Lucas is at a stage where he doesn't want to be confined in his chair so sitting has been "challenging". All he wanted to do at this restaurant was walk and walk with our help of course since he's just cruising right now.
