Spooky Parade & Party

It's Lucas' first Halloween! We attended the Burlingame Halloween Parade and Lucas wore his Karate Uniform. He pretended to be a black belt baby. We met up with Lucas' playgroup friends and it was so cute to see them all lined up in their costumes. It was also fun to see Todd wearing a bright orange vest, as he volunteered to be a crossing guard.

We also attended Susan & Davie's Annual Halloween Bash. Susan is an amazing party planner, she had halloween decor, a Taco stand - fresh tacos made to order, drinks, cupcakes, games and goodies.

Wedding & Vancouver Visit

October whizzed by so fast. Lucas is very curious..has to touch everything, climb on everyone and everything and can carry on a conversation of his own for 40 mins of babbling. He is definately keeping me busy - I miss those potted plant days where he just sits there and looks around. Now I'm busy watching and chasing him. The other day he found some coins which he managed to get off a ledge by pulling the curtain and I found him sucking on a quarter. Scary!

Lucas and I were in Vancouver for the first couple weeks in October.

We made a stop at Virginia's nieces birthday party.

My Dad flew back with me to SF, and stayed for a couple of days to hang out and relax. We went to Chinatown, Lucas' first visit and he loved it of course. He just likes going out and seeing new things.

Tupperware is my new best friend

Lucas is 9 months old already. He's crawling all over the place, exploring and getting his hands into everything. He's also starting to stand up using furniture to support him. It's really weird to come into his room and he's standing up holding onto the top of his crib, peeking out.

Here are his stats. With all this moving around he's getting skinnier. I'm going to miss his chubby legs and arms when he starts fully moving.

Bonjour Quebec

When we were thinking about where to go for our summer vacation with Lucas, we wanted to go to Europe but we thought the flight would be too long, so we chose Quebec instead. Parisian flair but in North America. We were not disappointed.

We just got back from a fun filled week in Montreal & Quebec City. Both are such interesting cities and it did not feel like we were in Canada. French was spoken everywhere, it is the main language, and the architecture, cafes and restaurants felt like we were in France. We couldn't have asked for better weather, it was sunny and warm. My dad & mom came along on the trip too, which meant grandparent quality time Lucas. It also meant Todd and I got to go out on a few dates ourselves.

We stayed 6 days in Montreal and rented a townhouse in the Plateau Mont-Royal area. It was such a cute place, very historic built in the 1800's but remodeled. The neighborhood was my favourite of the entire city. The homes were all historic townhouses, restaurants and cafes were within walking distance. There were small markets and stores, and no big boxes in sight. The mode of transportation were bicycles, walking and the metro. At night the main street was bustling and people ate dinner really late. It felt like a little piece of Europe. We explored various parts of Montreal, Vieux Montreal, Chinatown, Downtown and the Plateau of course. We had french food most of our visit, sprinkled with Vietnamese and Italian. We also ate at the famouse Au Pied du Couchon, which I'm sure Todd will blog about in another post. It was just insane there - foie gras everything.

The second part of our trip, Todd, Lucas and I took a train to Quebec City. It was a 3 hour ride, and we got to see rural parts of Quebec. When we got to Quebec City, we couldn't believe how beautiful the city was. Very clean and very european. We spent 2 days in the old city walls, and wandered through the cobble stone streets, eating at cafes and perusing through shops.
