Lucas 6 Month Appt

Lucas is growing so fast, he's already sitting up with help and soon he'll be sitting up all by himself. His legs and arms are getting stronger too. He can do a mini-pushup with his arms when he's on his stomach and he's able to scoot himself backyards. He's starting to say consonants, like ma ba ka which is super cute.

Here are his stats from his 6 month appointment. As you can see he's a big boy. He was such a flirt at the doctor's office..laughing and giggling with the nurses. I guess dad taught him well :-)

Height: 36 1/2 inches
Weight: 19 lbs 4 oz
Head Size: 17 1/2 inches

He started solid foods when he was 5 1/2 months old and he took to the food right away. He was so ready for it as we was starting to watch everything we put in our mouths. He was probably thinking, hey what about me?

Summer time...

Yay, summer is finally here and it's finally great weather here. (Although it did get a tad too hot, like 90 degrees F, a few days so far.) It's been a fun and busy start to summer...the way we like it.

We went to a Food Festival with Lucas and he rocked to the music. It was way too hot and we had to go home because he didn't like it there, but he did wear his baby earphones looking all cute.

We also went camping at South Lake Tahoe, Camp Richardson with a bunch of friends. They had a few campsites, but we decided to stay at a nearby motel since it would be easier with a baby. We went to the beach, ate lots, roasted marshmallows and hung out at the campsite. Lucas had a great time, looking at the trees in the forest and getting sand between his toes. He missed a few naps too because there was too much to see and so many people wanted to hold him. He was such a ham, laughing and smiling at our friends.

Little munchkins. Lucas is the latest addition.

Checking out the forest.

We celebrated Lucas' cousin, Bella's birthday at Nana's house. Nana got some little chicks, so that she can have fresh eggs. They were so cute. Lucas wasn't really into them, just looked and then was like..oh ok what else..

We had a few visitors this month too, which is always fun. Henry, Todd's friend from college, came up to go to a concert with Todd from Merced. It was his first time meeting Lucas.

My cousin Geoffrey and girlfriend Emily from Vancouver, stayed with us on their 5 week drive through the US. They made us a nice steak dinner on their last night with us.

We also got a visit from Todd's cousin Ashley and her boyfriend Daniel from Humboldt, who wanted to get one last visit in with Lucas before they move to New York. I didn't get any pictures this time, but here are a few that Daniel took. He is moving to New York to do his masters in photography.

Our most recent visitors were this past weekend, with Jennifer, Juliet and Maddie visiting us again this year. We had so much fun the last time they came, that they decided to make another trip out again before Juliet's maternity leave ended. They stayed for 5 days and it went by really quick because we did so much again, with 2 babies.

Dad Rocks

Lucas loves his daddy. When he comes home from work, he's so excited to see Todd and immediately starts laughing and giggling away. Every night, Todd and Lucas have their time together before he goes to sleep - he reads him a story and then puts him to bed. Lucas likes flipping the pages while Todd reads away. It's so cute watching them together and seeing Todd in his new role at Daddy. It's not a surprise that he's so good at it already. He also gives him a bath and is pretty meticulous about cleaning him and making sure he's all dry. (it follows his neatness).

He also makes the effort to keep our relationship strong and is a good listener. With this new person in our life, our lives get really hectic and focused on Lucas. My husband takes whatever time we do have to make me feel like we are still important too! Yesterday, he surprised me and arranged babysitters (Hedda & Leonard) to look after Lucas, so that he can take me out on a date night. It was nice to get out just us. We even went for dessert too! Anyway, just wanted to say TB rocks!

LA Weekend

So this past weekend, the 3 of us flew to LA to visit Todd's aunt and his friend Raj who opened a new bar in North Hollywood. Lucas did really well on the plane and just slept the whole way. The flight attendants told us he's welcome on their flights anytime. We stayed at his Aunt's place, who has a beautiful home in the hills with a big pool in the back. It was Lucas' first time in the water, besides bathing of course, and his reaction was confused. Not sure if he liked it or disliked it, kindof had the same face. On sat night, Todd's aunt and his mother baby sat while we went out with friends for dinner and then to Raj's bar - The Good Nite. Raj was such a great host, drinks on him all night, which is dangerous.

Redondo Beach

Having some fresh steamed crab. We had mallots to break open the shells. Lucas liked the mallot.

Another airplane ride back home.

Rolling Over - Help!

So Lucas has been rolling over from stomach to back for awhile now and he's learned the other way now, but has forgotten how to get back on his back. He's been so into this new trick, that everytime I put him on his back, he rolls over onto his stomach immediately. He likes the view for a few mins and then sheer panick as he realizes he doesn't know how to roll back or move and is stuck in this position. Gosh, I hope he figures it out because he does this in his sleep and Todd or I have to go in after a few minutes of crying and freaking out and turn the little guy over.

Grandma & Grandpa Visit

Poh Poh & Goong Goong came for a visit in mid may to visit to the bay area. It had been the 2nd time my dad has seen Lucas since he was born, so he looked very different from the last time. He was itty bitty, but now he's big boy at a strapping 19 lbs 5 months 3 weeks old. Poh Poh missed Lucas so much and was so excited to see him. They spent lots of time with Lucas, and even babysat him so that Todd and I could go out with our friends at night. We even went out in the afternoon by ourselves shopping - wow it felt weird not carrying a diaper bag, a good weird of course. It was a fun visit and we'll be seeing them again in mid July in Vancouver.

Bouncy Baby, Bounce!

So we got Lucas a Jumperoo and it's been hilarious watching him jump, jump. At first he didn't really understand the aparatus and moved really slowly and cautiously, but in a couple days he got the hang of it and starting jumping his pants off. Take a look at the little guy give it his all.
